The constellation series catalysed civic-systems in January 2024. A collaboration with innovation practitioner Julie McLaren, our programme of events was founded upon an experimental, open inquiry approach
Our aims:
- introduce a creative, systems-centred approach to place-based imagining / stewardship
- develop new connections and trust between civic stakeholders across Greater Exeter, including university, city council, communities and business
- build capacity for imagination, experimentation and learning
Julie McLaren is a freelance innovation practitioner and researcher. She has worked in research and innovation policy across sectors and domains including national funding, higher education, local and regional development, culture and heritage, and the creative industries. These days her main focus is civic innovation and social transformation through a combination of research, practice and consultancy. Julie is currently doing a doctorate at the Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose, UCL to examine what shapes citizen-led, place-based innovation.
